A pop singer from Brazil has accused Madonna of stealing from one of her songs to use in her new single. Listen to each of the songs and see if you can hear the similarities.
Madonna’s Super Bowl Halftime…
Brazilian singer Joao Brasil accuses Madonna of lifting the chorus of her song “L.O.V.E. Banana” and used it in new single “Gimme All Your Luvin’,” according to W.E.N.N..
“I still don’t understand what happened. I’m a huge fan of hers. If it’s plagiarism, then even better. She is always at the cutting edge of music, so it’s a good sign about what I do,” Joao Brasil said of the conflict.
Her record label is considering suing over the alleged plagiarism. Listen to both songs (particularly the choruses) below and tell us what you think in the poll and comments.
Madonna – “Gimme All Your Luvin’”
Joao Brasil – “L.O.V.E. Banana”
Clearly, Joao Brasil’s camp thinks Madonna ripped off the cheering part from “L.O.V.E. Banana” and used it for the end of the chorus to “Gimme All Your Luvin’.” While the two parts are certainly similar, they each are hardly the first songs to feature cheerleader-type yelling in the vocals. If anything, both of them ripped off “Mickey” by Tony Basil or some other song that came before them.
