Rob Gronkowski set a new NFL record for touchdown receptions by a tight end in the New England Patriots’ 34-27 win over the Washington Redskins in D.C. Sunday afternoon. Gronk caught his 14th touchdown pass in the first quarter, after setting it up with a remarkable 49-yard catch-and-run where he shed a few tackles and barely stayed in bounds.
Tom Brady finished 22-of-37 passing for 357 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Redskins threatened to score a late TD, reaching the red zone before Jerod Mayo caught a clutch interception to clinch the win. The Patriots are now 10-3 and are one step closer to winning another AFC East title and earning a top-2 seed in the AFC.
